Emmerdale will air some harrowing scenes tonight – as Tom King and Belle Dingle lead a special flashback episode.

Belle (Eden Taylor Draper) has been subjected to harrowing physical and emotional abuse and coercive control behaviour by her evil husband Tom (James Chase), and viewers will see tonight a flashback episode which shows the abuse Belle has been subjected to.

A teaser trailer showed the cottage covered in blood and smashed things, with no sign of either Belle or Tom – but what has happened and what led to that moment – and more importantly, is Belle ok?

Danny Miller – who plays Aaron Dingle – exclusively chatted to The Mirror at the Radio Times Soap Awards, where he quipped about his co-star: “I’d love to sort out James Chase, he’s doing my head in today!”

He later added about if Aaron might be the one to bring Tom down, but Danny hinted it could be someone different. He said: “Aaron’s kind of a Dingle – but detached from the Belle trio so it would be great.

“As a viewer watching, I’d love to do it! But I’m sure one day it’ll be sorted soon – and it doesn’t necessarily mean a man will stop him, it would be nice to see he gets real justice rather than a good hiding.”

Tom actor James appeared on Lorraine yesterday, where he discussed the tough storyline and praised his co-star Eden. He said: “With me and Eden, my brilliant co-star, our main goal is to keep eye on the target. There’s some difficult scenes but if we can walk away happy with what we’ve done then that’s good.”

Asked how he switches off from filming the big scenes, he added: “Luckily, I’ve been acting since I was 12-years-old. I’ve played other complicated and villainous characters. I’m glad I’ve done that as it helped me coming into this.

“There are definitely days when we’re doing a lot of difficult scenes – a lot of manipulating, a lot of gaslighting, especially the physical stuff. But myself and Eden, we know we have to do this story really carefully. We have to keep our focus on getting the scenes right. I think once you’re done is if you’re happy with what you’re done, that’s most important.”
