set abandoned Hollyoaks chaos as filming shuts down just a day after cast return to work from Christmas break

It follows a year of major changes for the soap

HOLLYOAKS has been rocked by a major filming disruption just one day into 2025’s filming schedule.

The cast began filming scenes for upcoming episodes on the Chester set yesterday after a break for the Christmas and New Year period.

However, they were left unable to continue with takes today after the filming schedule was thrown into chaos.

As a result of adverse weather conditions, the Channel 4 soap was forced to abandon plans for some of their planned scenes set to take place outside.

Actress Nadine Mulkerrin, who plays Cleo McQueen, took to social media to confirm she was one of the soap stars who had been affected.

Nadine turned up to work only to be told her day’s scenes had been axed due to an abundance of snow on the Hollyoaks set.

Sharing a picture of her looking glam backstage on the show, Nadine wrote online: “When your scene gets pulled because of the snow but you don’t mind because @beckageee & @georgiamorls transformed you from feral cupboard bride to new bun Cleo.”

Elsewhere, her co-star Charlie Wernham, who plays Robbie Roscoe, shared a snap of the snow covering the outdoor set.

He wrote “welcome back” over the top of the snap as work got underway on the show.

It isn’t the first time that the soap has been forced to abandon filming plans as a result of the snow.

As the programme films weeks in advance, show bosses have to ensure continuity on screens.

They also often film scenes out of sequence and must ensure there is no snow in one scene, only for it to have disappeared in the following scene.

Over the past year, Hollyoaks has undergone a series of changes.

As a result of the show’s budget being cut and the programme’s episode count being slashed from five to three, a number of stars left the programme.

A huge stunt and flash-forward propelled the soap into the future in order to bridge the gap in the changes.

Having originally aired on Channel 4, the soap was moved to sister channel E4 to air three times a week from Monday to Wednesday.

Episodes also stream in advance on Channel 4’s online streaming service.
