Carla makes heartbreaking admission about late brother Aidan in Coronation Street
Carla Connor (Alison King) made a heartbreaking admission in last night’s Coronation Street, as she confided in girlfriend Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) about the death of her brother Aidan Connor.
Recent scenes have seen the factory boss confined to a hospital bed after contracting sepsis, only to discover that the infection had damaged her kidney.
In last night’s episode, doctors informed her that the damage was worse than they thought, and that she would definitely need another kidney transplant.
Following the bad news, Lisa headed to the hospital to provide support, though Carla insisted that Aidan’s kidney was ‘hanging on in there’.
Viewers will remember that Carla’s half-brother Aidan donated his kidney to her in 2018, after Carla was diagnosed with kidney disease.
When Lisa pointed out that she never talked about him much, Carla revealed how he had insisted on being her donor, reflecting on his bravery and kindness as he battled with depression.
Later, Lisa apologised for prying, insisting that Carla didn’t owe her an explanation about her family or history.
However, Carla opened up about how Aidan had taken his own life, before making a heartbreaking admission.
She emotionally explained to Lisa how she had wanted to protect his kidney the way she hadn’t been able to protect him when he was alive, given that it was the only thing she had left of him.
Lisa was quick to offer comfort, pointing out that she could sometimes feel late wife Becky watching over her, and she was sure that Aidan would be doing the same for Carla.

Letting her walls fall down momentarily, Carla admitted how scared she was, before the couple were interrupted.
Elsewhere, Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) was on a mission to find Carla a new kidney, and his quest led him to Highfield Prison, where he came face to face with murderous father Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).
Rob initially shut down Bobby’s request for him to donate a kidney to his sister, but later had a change of heart and agreed to discuss it further.
Will Rob’s kidney be a match, and will Carla want to accept it?
