Fans beg Coronation Street legend to return after cryptic post seems to drop clue
Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has left fans speculating whether she will return after posting a throwback snap on Instagram.
The star, 34, played Rosie Webster on the ITV soap intermittently between 2000 and 2018.
During her time on the cobbles, Helen was embroiled in some of the show’s biggest storylines – including an affair with school teacher John Stape (Graham Hawley), who later held her hostage.
She also had a number of comedic stories, including the time Rosie and boyfriend Craig Harris (Richard Fleeshman) decided to be goths.
She departed the programme prior to her maternity leave, and viewers have long been hoping for her to make a comeback ever since.
This weekend, she shared a sweet picture from 2001 of her holding hands with iconic co-star Barbara Knox, who plays Rita Tanner.
‘Ah love this pic I found @coronationstreet with the iconic Barbara Knox’ she wrote.
‘I was [daughter] Matilda’s age.’
Samia Longchambon, who plays hairdresser Maria Connor commented: ‘love this Helen. I remember you being that age!’
PC Craig Tinker star Colson Smith added: ‘This is mint.’
Fans have pleaded with her to stage a return as Rosie, with one writing: ‘awww. Love this picture. I miss you in Coronation Street. I am currently watching the Classic Episodes on ITV 3.
‘Today, it was the one where Sally makes Rosie take the morning after pill, after she gets caught seeing Craig. Your acting was amazing. You are such a huge talent. You and Brooke Vincent were both fabulous. Sending lots of love.’
Another asked: ‘When are you returning?’
‘A hint perhaps?’ commented one hopeful viewer.
‘Lovely photo with all these actors leaving Corrie it would be great if a old fan favourite like Rosie returned’ said another.
