Call the Midwife star addresses whether he’s the next big EastEnders return
Former EastEnders star Cliff Parisi has addressed a potential return to the soap.
The actor played loveable Walford mechanic Minty Peterson between 2002 and 2010.
The character was introduced as an old friend of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and formed a comedy double act with Garry Hobbs (Ricky Groves).
Nearly 15 years on from his exit, Minty was asked about the chances of a comeback, amid a wave of recent cast returns.
Quizzed by hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp during an appearance on The One Show, Cliff said: ‘You know what, I loved playing Minty, I had such a ball and you know I’ve been watching the repeats, and I remember how much fun it was and what a laugh we had!
‘Never say never, that’s all I’d say. I really had fun doing it and I loved the show and I’m really grateful for everything it’s done for me.’
Cliff, who these days is known for playing Fred Buckle on Call The Midwife, added: ‘So never say never, but I don’t like going backwards, I like to keep my eyes on the forward.’
EastEnders has welcomed back a host of familiar faces in recent months, including Tracy Ann Oberman as Chrissie Watts, Michael French as David Wicks and Louisa Lytton as Ruby Allen.
Paul Bradley also made a surprise return as 90s legend Nigel Bates just before Christmas.
Meanwhile, Ross Kemp is set to reprise his role as Walford hardman Grant Mitchell next month as part of the soap’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
