Spectacular Coronation Street explosion ‘confirms’ major character’s death amid shock exit story
Coronation Street has revealed the first official, spectacular pictures and details of a horrifying explosion that tears through the Platt house during a fire.
And it’s not looking good for Max Turner, with Paddy Bever having recently quit the role.
Max finds himself caught in the epicentre of the inferno – and will be inside the building when it erupts.
However, there may be a twist to the tale – with court filming also seemingly ahead, maybe Max could be attending a family trial relating to blame around the fire.
Kate Brooks recently confirmed David would lose a lot in the fire, could it be Max, another relative, or even his new freedom if he is behind the arson?
A spokesperson for the show teased the drama, sharing: ‘Things are about to hot up on Coronation Street!
‘A huge blaze will rip through the Platts house next week, destroying not only bricks and mortar but also the lives of David and Shona’s family and those close to them.
‘And when the fire is proven to be arson some of the street’s best known residents start to feel the heat and find themselves forced to try and convince the police of their innocence.
‘Who is the mysterious hooded figure we see pushing a petrol soaked rag through the letterbox of number 8?’
It’s not just the Platts at risk either, as Corrie went on to reveal names of others at risk – including Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor).
‘With no sign of Toyah or the kids it becomes evident that there may be people trapped inside,’ the blurb continued. ‘As Nick, Shona and Max head into the inferno, will they all make it out alive as a huge explosion rocks the Street?
‘The action starts on Monday Feb 3, with everyone gathering at the Bistro for Sarah’s birthday. Bored at the adult party Hope, Ruby, Lily and Sam sneak into number 8 and start to live stream a seance.
‘Spotting the live stream and seeing matches on the video, Toyah races over to the house and throws the kids out.
‘Meanwhile Abi Webster (Sally Carman) is on the warpath having realised Toyah shopped her to social services and seeing her at number 8 heads inside to confront her.
‘Caught up in a PTSD episode, she lashes out at Toyah knocking her unconscious before fleeing the house. Did she come back and start the fire to cover up the attack on Toyah?
‘Also creeping round the cobbles is a drunken Leanne, feeling lonely and angry at the world. Is she responsible for devastating inferno?
‘Or could David be to blame for the blaze? His feud with gang lord Harvey has ramped up a gear in recent weeks, with Shona already having been kidnapped as a warning.
‘Is Harvey’s gang behind the arson or has David gone to extreme lengths to get the money from the house insurance to repay Harvey the money he stole?’
With many names in the firing line both as potential deaths and potential arsonists, it’s clear the repercussions will be massive for weeks to come.
