David executes desperate plot to get rid of killer Harvey in Coronation Street
‘
David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) is a man desperate to protect his family in Coronation Street.
Last year, David stole a massive amount of cash from Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) – the drug dealer in prison for murdering Sam’s (Jude Riordan) mum.
He did it so he could stop someone else from buying the Platt house, and seemingly thought he was safe from Harvey because he’s behind bars.
Big mistake.
In upcoming episodes, Shona (Julia Goulding) leaves the house but fails to spot a man watching her from his van. Moments later, she is seen trapped in the back of the vehicle trying to shout for help.
Meanwhile, in the café, David pops by and realises Shona hasn’t shown up for work. In a panic, he races to the station and tells Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) that first David the dog got run over, and now Shona is missing – Harvey must be behind it.
In the week, David starts to realise that the only way he can raise the cash to pay Harvey back is to get rid of the house. He then meets up with Andy, a man he met in prison, and says he desperately needs a favour.
‘It all goes to pot! David has stolen a big old bag of cash from Harvey, which was the wrong move. He’s done it for the house and the family, but this escalates massively’, producer Kate Brooks said.
‘The story we’re telling is one of a very desperate David, trying to protect his family and keep Harvey and his goons at bay. He is struggling to navigate that, and struggling to pay back this big debt he has.
‘It all comes to a massive head in early February, when we play a massive stunt that has huge consequences for David. So, in trying to protect everyone and do the right thing, he ends up losing quite a few things that he holds dear.’
