Emmerdale favourite ‘works out’ who killed Anthony – and it’s not Caleb
An Emmerdale favourite may have just rumbled Anthony Fox’s (Nicholas Day) killer, after a not-so-subtle conversation in the middle of the village.
Anthony met his maker last week after his abuse of daughter Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) was finally exposed.
When Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) learnt what Ruby had suffered as a child, he was reminded of his own ordeal at the hands of his father, and wasted no time in confronting Anthony.
It had been his intention to march him to the police station and force him to confess to sexually abusing his daughter, but when Anthony suggested that Ruby had consented to her abuse, Aaron saw red.
Horrified by how deplorable Anthony was, Aaron beat him up, before later realising that he had died from his injuries.
In the days since the attack, Aaron has been struggling with his guilt, and the fear of getting caught.
Though John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) assured Aaron that he had dealt with the crime scene, he was still on edge, especially when they realised that Anthony’s car was still in the village.
In tonight’s episode, Aaron grew even more frightened when he learnt that Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) was calling the police into the depot – where Anthony was killed – to investigate some stolen cash.
With Jai insisting that he wanted forensics to scope the place for evidence of the thief, Aaron grew afraid that the gig was up.
John attempted to calm him down, encouraging him to act normal and assuring him that he had been thorough in his clean up of the murder.
In a bid to keep an eye on things, John headed to the depot under the guise of a health and safety initiative, making out to the staff that he was there to discuss installing a new defibrillator.
While pretending to case the place out for a suitable spot for the equipment, John spotted a rogue tooth on the ground, covered in blood.
It clearly belonged to Anthony, and left John filled with dread as he realised he hadn’t been as thorough as he thought.
As he attempted to retrieve the tooth, he was interrupted by Caleb Miligan (William Ash).
With Caleb’s admission that he had taken the money from the petty cash, PC Swirling left with a warning to Jai about wasting police time.
Later, John updated Aaron on the situation, who was furious that he’d gone to the depot when they were supposed to be acting normal.
