Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Gallagher’s (Joe-Warren Plant) relationship is surprisingly making good progress in Emmerdale.
The two characters started spending more time together over the festive period, and then decided to see where things would go romantically for them.
As this is a soap, their journey so far hasn’t been without it’s challenges. When Jacob started his new placement in A&E, Sarah realised he was making more friends outside of the village. As he invited them for drinks in the pub, it made Sarah feel isolated and as though she didn’t matter as much.
Outside, Jacob found Sarah and she opened up about her insecurities. Fortunately, his reassurance was enough to make her feel better.
A few days later, Sarah and Jacob spent the evening together. They felt all loved up and on cloud nine, but then faced yet another hurdle when Charity (Emma Atkins) and Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) stuck their noses in.
Once Leyla made Jacob panic about being in a relationship with Sarah – who has fanconi anemia (FA) – he thought it would be best to put a halt on things before it developed any further.
As soon as Charity found out, she marched over to Jacob and confronted him for hurting Sarah already.
Thankfully, the two young adults stood up for themselves and said they’re old enough to take control of their own lives, and seemingly cleared the air once more.
In upcoming episodes of the ITV soap, Sarah spends her afternoon getting spruced up and ready for her night out with Jacob.
As they depart, it’s clear the two characters are loving every minute of being together.
While things may be a vision of happiness for Jacob right now, he’s set to endure trauma soon when mum Leyla Harding leaves the village.
According to reports, Roxy Shahidi’s character will be killed off, with many fans of the ITV soap speculating Leyla will die in the upcoming icy lake stunt.
