Coronation Street revisits ‘forgotten’ relationship – and it’s very moving
Coronation Street has reminded us of Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) relationship in moving scenes, as the pair came together to celebrate Sarah’s birthday.
Sarah had planned a special do in the Bistro and Todd made no secret of the fact that he had gate-crashed without an invite.
As things started to go wrong at the event, with half of the family going AWOL and the entertainer having to be cancelled, Sarah and Todd found time to sit together and catch up.
After observing an interaction between siblings Harry and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), Todd was keen to know how Bethany was doing after her recent break-up with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
During their conversation, Sarah appeared distracted, clearly worried about the danger her family was in after David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) theft of Harvey Gaskell’s money.
As Sarah pointed out that you never stop worrying about your kids, no matter how old they get, she reminded Todd that their son Billy would have been 21 this year if he had survived.
Before Todd came out as gay, he was in a relationship with Sarah.
Sarah fell pregnant with Todd’s baby, but Billy sadly died after Sarah went into premature labour in 2004.
Todd confirmed that he had been thinking about him, and that if he’d still been here they would have thrown him an impressive 21st birthday party.
Sarah then asked Todd if he wanted any more children, and he revealed that he wouldn’t rule it out if he found the right man.
Producer Kate Brooks previously teased that a new romance may be on the cards for Todd, so could he be set to start a family of his own?
‘There might be a new man for Todd coming… He’s been single for donkey’s years, and he’s fantastic,’ she enthused.
‘The Grimshaws are another big clan I am eager to explore. So, there might be a new man coming for Todd, which will come with its own tests and trials.’
