EastEnders star Dean Gaffney is staging an acting comeback as he’s set to appear in a movie opposite a big name in the industry.

The actor, who rose to fame as Robbie Jackson in the BBC One soap, will star in an upcoming project alongside Vinnie Jones.

Taking to Instagram, the former soap star shared a snap from the set of the film as he’s pictured staring at former footballer Vinnie.

‘Myself and Vinnie coming to a screen this year’, he on his story, with a red heart emoji finishing out the message.

Dean has starred in EastEnders on and off since 1993. He was last seen in 2019 when Robbie arrived back in Walford with son Sami.

Robbie’s actions gave Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) cause for concern, and she soon discovered that he wasn’t planning on allowing Sami to go back home, and had been ignoring Nita’s (Bindya Solanki) calls.

Nita showed up in Walford and took Sami home, but not long afterwards, Robbie got word that his son had been in an accident and thus made a swift departure, which served as his exit storyline.

Dean told The Daily Star in 2020 that he had talks with bosses about returning later down the line.

‘I had a meeting with the boss and they said, “The door is left open for Robbie and we will definitely see you in the future”.

‘It will happen at some point. It’s just a case of when it happens. So I can’t complain about that.’

Dean opened up last year about the devastation of losing his mum, who passed away in August 2023.

‘Nothing prepared me for going to pick my mum up for a routine Sunday roast and finding her passed away.

‘What I saw shall remain private, but it will haunt me forever. Sudden heart attacks are a thing. One day you can be here, the next gone, literally simple as that.

‘I am not one to share my grief on social media. However, I just wanted to say it’s been a tough year for me and maybe I’ve done things uncharacteristically. Grief hits in many ways.’
