Emmerdale legend warns you to ‘hold onto your knickers’ for ‘unstoppable’ episodes

Prepare yourselves for an Emmerdale stunt of such epic proportions that you’re going to be clutching your underwear – and that’s official.

Upcoming scenes see two limousines heading off into the night – and it’s not long before disaster strikes and one of the cars crashes into a frozen lake.

As the ice cracks beneath the weight of the vehicle, the lives of many of our favourite characters are in the balance – but which car is it? And who will make it out alive?

The incident comes about after Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) decides to propose to his partner, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter).

He doesn’t want it to be a standard, down-on-one knee proposal, either, and sets about trying to win a night out in a limo in a raffle, thinking he can propose to Chas in that romantic setting.

‘Bless. She’s not quite ready yet!’ Lucy Pargeter said of the proposal. ‘I don’t think they’re at that stage. It’s only very, very early days. He’s very eager.’

He’s so eager, in fact, that when Kerry (Lara Norton) beats him to the raffle prize he begs Suzy (Martelle Edinborough) to find another limo so he can still carry out his plan.

Unfortunately, Chas has already signed up for a girls’ night out in Kerry’s limo, so a frustrated Liam has to switch his own plans and arrange a boys’ night out in the second car.

‘I think he should probably take the hint,’ Lucy smiled as poor Liam’s plans seemed destined to be thwarted.

Both limos arrive without a driver so Charity (Emma Atkins) and Caleb (William Ash) volunteer to drive their respective cars. Caleb is seething about Cain (Jeff Hordley) betraying him by sleeping with Ruby (Beth Cordingly), so with Cain on board as well tensions are simmering. It’s not long before a massive argument breaks out in the boys’ limo.

With both drivers distracted for different reasons, the two cars both swerve and leave the road, headed towards the frozen lake.

And in the aftermath of the crash, we see one of the cars apparently about to plunge through the ice into the wintry depths.

Lucy’s co-star Jonny McPherson described the artificial lake that was created for the scenes.

‘They created this amazing lake in what is our back carpark at the village.  When we heard about it we had no idea how great it would look. And none of us could believe it when we saw it, as it was so realistic and looked fantastic.

‘They had a company make it look all icy and frosty all around. Our DOP (Director of Photography) Chris Ramage told me that a lot of the shots are the best he’s seen in his 30 years here at Emmerdale.’

Lucy agreed that the audience are going to be on the edge of their seats.

‘I’m really excited. I think it’s going to come out of the blue,’ she said.

‘They are a series of episodes that don’t stop. There are so many people involved. There are so many storylines in there and there is so much that happens in every single scene that I’m just hoping that they’ve got their hands on their knickers and that they are ready for a ride!’

Don’t say you haven’t been warned.
