Coronation Street aired some shocking scenes – as the fallout from the fire continued.
The ITV soap’s famous Cobbles have been hit by some shocking news – as a fire ripped through the Platts house. Shona, David and the kids have been left with nothing after a fire broke out in the Platts, with a lit rag being thrown into the house.
Many had initially suspected Harvey Gaskell was to blame for what happened, given that David owed him money. However, at the end of last night’s episode, Sarah confronted David Platt as she learned a harrowing truth about him.
David disappeared to try and find Mason’s brother, convinced that he was to blame. Whilst he confessed to police he had killed his own brother, he refused to take any responsibility for the fire.
At the end of the episode, Sarah borrowed David’s phone and noticed he had been searching arson and house insurance on his phone. As he tried to explain why he did it, Sarah wasn’t having any of it.

David said he had considered burning the house down for the insurance money but when he found out how long it would take, he realised that he couldn’t do it this way – as Harvey would still be after him until then. However, could this be a clue that David was responsible for the fire – or did someone else do it?
Elsewhere, both Max and Toyah were rushed to hospital, where they were given lifesaving care. Nick was at Toyah’s bedside, but Leanne soon arrived, with Nick sending her on her way after all she had done.
Max, meanwhile, was left in a coma after firefighters managed to rescue him from the burning house. Shona revealed that Max’s lungs were not working correctly so doctors had put him in a coma to hopefully save his life.
We are yet to find out if Max or Toyah have any permanent and longstanding injuries from the shock fire. However, there could be a twist – and someone else could end up dead.
Whilst no one else is believed to be in the building, one character that struggled throughout the episode was Shona. She had suffered smoke inhalation following the fire and didn’t seem to be too unwell, but could this be a red herring and is she at risk?
With Max and Toyah the obvious candidates to die in a huge twist, is it possible that someone like Shona could actually be the one to lose her life – and how would David react, given he’s already lost his ex wife Kylie Platt?
