Coronation Street’s David in serious danger as he is forced into a life of crime
David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) is tempted into another robbery in Coronation Street next week, convinced that the cash will solve his monetary issues.
Last year, David concealed gangster Damon Hay’s (Ciaran Griffiths) secret stash of money that he stole earlier in the year.
The sum had actually come about after committing a robbery for his gangster brother Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) earlier in the year.
It was intended to be used for Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) recovery following botched surgery in Turkey, with Damon offering it to her mum Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).

David discovered where it was hidden and planned to use it to buy his family home after mum Gail (Helen Worth) announced she was selling up to move to the south of France.
Since then he’s been tormented by Harvey’s cronies, who ran over his beloved dog David and then kidnapped wife Shona (Julia Goulding) for a short while.
In shocking scenes, she returned home safe but a bullet from an airgun soon shot through the living room window.
Fearing for their lives, the Platts scarpered, taking refuge with Sarah (Tina O’Brien).

In a desperate attempt to pay Harvey back, David then agreed to take part in a robbery with his old prison pal Andy (Andrew Goth).
An end of an era dawned at the beginning of this week, as whilst the clan were out celebrating Sarah’s birthday, their iconic home – No. 8 Coronation Street – was set alight.
Flames climbed through the building as his step-son Max (Paddy Bever), brother Nick (Ben Price) and Shona ran inside to save an unconscious Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor).
In upcoming scenes, Max is dragged out of the fire and into an ambulance, with David insisting that he had nothing to do with the incident. He’s adamant that Logan, one of the lads who was targeting him, is responsible.
Distraught, he sobs into Shona’s arms and tells her that it’s his fault and that it would never have happened had he not taken the money.
Meanwhile, Andy is desperately trying to track David down and bumps into Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) at the salon.
Remembering him as an old friend of Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) who was inside for fraud, he tells Nick – who instantly assumes that David had torched the building using Andy’s insurance scam knowledge.
Will he be able to confess where he really was?
When brought in for questioning about the events, David tells Kit that he was in Denton with Andy at the time the fire was ignited, but his story isn’t corroborated.

With evidence stacked up against him, David is arrested.
In upcoming scenes, Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) looks over footage from the night of the fire and spots the arsonist. He flags it to Shona, who makes an unsettling discovery.
Nick becomes convinced that his brother isn’t responsible and apologises, as Kit brings Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) in for an interview. There’s evidence to suggest that she is the culprit.
She admits to her situation looking bad, but assures him that she’s innocent.
David then meets up with Andy, and is pleased to be handed two grand for his part in the robbery. He’s shocked to be handed a surprising offer of a far bigger job, that would have an even bigger reward.
After listening to the details, will David take on the job?
