Twisted Rob ‘set to kill again’ in Coronation Street – and his victim is a show legend
Lives are in danger on Coronation Street next week as Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) enacts his desperate and sinister plan to escape prison.
Rob has been serving a 25 year sentence after murdering Tina McIntyre in 2014, but was recently approached by son Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) for a huge favour.
Despite initial reservations, Rob eventually agreed to donate a kidney to sister Carla Connor (Alison King), who was in need of another transplant after contracting sepsis.
Rob claimed to have found God and insisted he wanted to put the past behind them, but Carla was unsure whether or not to believe him.
In tonight’s episode, it becomes clear that Carla was right to worry, as DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) works out that there is more to Rob’s generosity than meets the eye.
It transpires that Rob has been having an illegal relationship with prison guard Mandy, and the pair have been plotting his escape, with Rob having no intention of going through with the operation.
After uncovering his escape plot and affair with Mandy, Lisa offers Rob a deal: Go through with the transplant and she’ll get his conviction overturned.
However, as a new trailer reveals, Rob is willing to go to extreme lengths to ensure his freedom, and he doesn’t care who he hurts in the process.
In upcoming scenes, as Carla and Rob recover from their kidney surgeries, Rob realises that it’s now or never if he wants to avoid going back to prison.
The stakes are high as he lashes out at his prison guard, knocking him unconscious and cuffing him to the hospital bed.
Having stolen his uniform, Rob makes a break for it and leaves the hospital.
However, he isn’t alone, having instructed Mandy to bring vulnerable Carla to him.
Terrified for her girlfriend’s safety, Lisa is hot on their heels, but has she underestimated Rob?
What lengths will he go to for his freedom?
Could he be set to kill again, or will he pay the ultimate price for his actions?
