This article contains spoilers for tonight’s episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm but is available to view now on iPlayer.

Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) has made a shocking realisation about fiancé Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), sparking the beginning of his downfall.

After smothering his comatose wife Debbie last year, Reiss has evaded justice by allowing poor pregnant Son’ to take the blame.

She spent months behind bars ahead of her trial, which was halted when, at the eleventh hour, her sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) confessed to the crime.

Finally free, she was desperate for more answers and asked uncle Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) to get his hands on Bianca’s confession tape.

Sonia watched in horror as her dishevelled sibling reeled off the gory details of the murder, unaware that she was speaking from the confines of a storage container where she has been held hostage by Reiss.

He was spooked to see that the video had resurfaced, and became fearful that his secrets were about to unravel.

With nowhere left to turn, he gave Bianca some pills and told her that she would have to take her own life.

In tonight’s episode, he packed a holdall bag with cleaning products under the assumption that she would be dead and he’d have a nasty cleanup job to do.

Sonia continued to study the shocking footage, whilst her cousin Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) tried to defend Bianca.

Neither woman was aware of the full extent of the horror unfolding at the lockup, as Reiss entered and discovered that Bianca was very much alive!

He insisted that she go through with his plan, as he couldn’t have a future with Sonia without her being dead. Suddenly, a text was sent to his phone revealing that she had been rushed to hospital – there had been complications with her pregnancy.

Luckily, the nurse confirmed that she had suffered a premature rupture of her membrane, and that she could still carry a full term pregnancy.

It was also confirmed that her unborn child is a girl.

Reiss had dashed over to be with her, forgetting to correctly secure the unit.

Bianca faced a desperate struggle to break free from the chain that she’s been attached to since November.

Knowing that Sonia was safe and back at home, Reiss snuck out in the middle of the night and was spotted by Lauren.

As his car broke down, she confronted him and told him that she knew Bianca wasn’t capable of being a cold-blooded killer.
He tried to get away, attempting to restart his car to no avail.

Back at home, Sonia decided to have one final viewing of Bianca’s confession before deleting it. The window to permanently erase the footage was open, and as she hovered over the delete button she noticed some damning evidence in the corner of her screen.

Reflected in the mirror behind Bianca was the distinctive dolls house that was sat opposite her in the baby’s nursery.

What will Sonia’s next move be, and will Bianca escape?
