Hollyoaks confirms new Abe murder suspect in early streaming release

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Monday’s episode (February 10), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has named a new suspect in Abe Fielding’s murder case, in the show’s latest episode.
Last week, the tables were turned on abuser Abe when Cleo and Sienna held him captive in his flat, and Cleo attempted to poison him.
But with Jez fearing that Abe might tell the police about Dilly’s death, he took him into the woods and killed him.
Grace then found Abe’s body and used it as an opportunity. She shot him then planted the gun on Mercedes, who was later arrested for murder.
In today’s episode, as devastated Marie was told about Abe’s death, Cleo, John Paul and Freddie all begged the police to release Mercedes from custody.
Sienna asked her dad if he killed Abe, but Jez made it clear that he wasn’t responsible. He got a shock when he found out that Mercedes had been arrested.
Meanwhile, Cleo continued to lie to Peri and Leela about kidnapping Abe before his death. Sienna told her that she had cleared the evidence before the police searched his flat.
Donny told Misbah that there were signs Abe was strangled as well as shot and doubted that Mercedes was capable of this. He also revealed that there were traces of a strong sleeping pill in Abe’s system – a prescription that Misbah had recently given to Cleo.
He broached the subject with Mercedes and suggested that she had worked with her cousin to kill Abe. As a result of this, she told DI Banks she was now ready to talk.
Later, DI Banks was furious with Grace for tipping him off about Mercedes but not revealing that the gunshot wasn’t what killed Abe.
Freddie realised that Grace had planted his gun on Mercedes, and she eventually admitted to doing so, wanting her to spend the rest of her life in prison. He told DI Banks, but he explained there had been a development in the case.
Mercedes rang Cleo from prison and told her that the police suspect her, so she was going to sacrifice herself and plead guilty.
Cleo was adamant that Mercedes didn’t kill Abe and vowed to find out who was responsible. Hearing this, Jez snuck into Cleo’s room that night – but she woke up and spotted him.
