Emmerdale icon ‘went flying’ at awards party and is handling it in the perfect way
Emmerdale favourite Beth Cordingly has shared a hilarious tale from a recent awards ceremony.
The actress, 48, was one of a number of cast who glammed for the TV Choice awards earlier this week.
After the stars graced the red carpet, the ITV soap picked up a whopping two out of three available gongs.
The Yorkshire-based soap took home the coveted award for Best Soap, beating out competitors EastEnders, Coronation Street and Doctors, whilst Beth took home the prize for Best Newcomer for her role as the incomparable Ruby Fox-Miligan.
Her wild behaviour has earnt her a place in viewers’ hearts, which was further cemented when horrific details of her childhood were unveiled.
In recent months, the character has opened up about the sexual abuse she faced at the hands of her father as a teenager.
The story resulted in Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) attacking him and leaving him for dead, before Ruby finished off the job.
Beth was clearly on cloud nine to be awarded the accolade, taking to Instagram to tell her followers about a hilarious mishap that happened backstage.

‘Another thing that happened was, I missed Emmerdale winning the award’ she explained.
‘So that when I came back from having my photo taken, I passed the room where they had them taken and they (the cast and crew) were like: “Beth! We won!”
‘I was like: “Yes!”, Ian Kelsey (her partner) passed me a gin and tonic, my first drink of the night, because I wanted to speak actual words if there was any chance of me actually winning the award.
‘I had one sip, saw them in my excitement, tripped over as I was flying towards them. Gin went in my eye, the award nearly goes in my other eye!’
She captioned the post: ‘It didn’t. But it COULD HAVE. I keep replaying it in my head. “Actress wins award and then blinds herself on it.”
‘I DIDN’T. But I almost did. Arghh. Can’t. Stop. Replaying. Potential. Horror. In. Head.

‘Anyway. I DID go flying, fall FLAT ON MY FACE, get gin in my eye and ALL OVER my face. Just before we took our “hooray we’ve won best soap” photo.
‘This is why I absolutely have always adored Bridget Jones. And my hero Dame Judi Dench who also talks about how she used to fall over a lot on stage.
‘I HADN’T EVEN HAD A TEQUILA AT THAT POINT.’
Co-star Ash Palmisciano commented: ‘still styled it out somehow ha xxx’
TikTok star Ellen Stafford, better known to her followers as webkinny, added: ‘oh no. Hope you aren’t injured! Love your excitement!’
Coronation Street also had reason to party, as Peter Ash picked up the trophy for Best Soap Performance for his role as Paul Foreman.
