Hollyoaks icon Nadine Mulkerrin’s Valentine’s dig at real-life TV star fiancé
Hollyoaks star Nadine Mulkerrin has joked that real-life parter Rory Douglas-Speed always forgets Valentine’s Day, putting that theory to the test on social media.
The Cleo McQueen star posted a video on her Instagram story on Thursday (February 13) asking Rory – who plays Joel Dexter on the Channel 4 soap – which special day is approaching.
Caught off-guard, Rory smiled when he put two and two together, realising that Nadine was referring to Valentine’s Day.
‘Who’s asking’, he joked. Nadine, who could be heard laughing in the background, quizzed him on whether or not he’s got her a card. ‘It’s on its way’, he replied, prompting another laugh from Nadine.
Actual couple goals.
Rory and Nadine have been together for years and announced their engagement in 2018. ‘We’ve been too busy to make plans,’ Nadine, who plays Cleo McQueen on the soap, told OK! last year.

‘We got pregnant, we moved out, then the world went crazy with COVID, then we got pregnant again. I’d love to have a wedding when the boys are older, so they’ll remember it.’
Nadine has been at the centre of a huge Hollyoaks storyline over the past year, delivering powerhouse performances galore as character Cleo was coercively controlled and abused by Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti), who subsequently took her hostage.

The storyline concluded earlier this month after Abe met his demise at the hands of twisted serial killer Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield).
Cleo, meanwhile, shared a passionate kiss with Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) in the aftermath of her ordeal.
Rory was also involved in powerful scenes over the past few weeks as Joel proved incredibly supportive after finding out that Leela (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) was raped by Abe.
