With love still lingering in the air after Valentine’s Day, Coronation Street’s Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) gets new romance hopes next week.
The character has been going through somewhat of a dry spell of late, but that is all set to change after attending a singles tea dance at the hotel.
On Friday, fans of the ITV soap saw Todd persuade recently bereaved Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) to come with him to the event, which was being hosted by Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney).
A couple of men bought them drinks, but still grieving his late husband Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), Billy hurried out.
While Todd stayed, he was soon distracted when he bumped into his aunt Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh), who hasn’t been seen in Weatherfield for nine years, and they shared a drink together with George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley).
When we return to the cobbles on Monday, the rest of the evening proves to have been a successful one for Todd, as it is revealed he has spent the night with the man he’d earlier met at the tea dance.
The following morning, he is leaving the hotel when he bumps into Julie at reception, and soon makes a discovery about what’s really brought her back to Weatherfield.
Todd last had a taste of romance when he became interested in Paul’s carer Moses (Michael Fatogun) in late 2023, but this sadly never developed into a relationship as Moses later left for London.
Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd, recently hinted at a new love interest for his character.
‘I think there’s definitely a sense that we want to play a relationship story with Todd at some point in the near future,’ he told Digital Spy.
‘I’m definitely interested in what’s next for Todd and I’m assured that there’s stuff to come.’
