Hollyoaks actor James Sutton has reportedly split from his girlfriend a year after the pair announced their relationship online.

The duo went public with their pairing on Instagram last February. James, who plays the part of John Paul McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, simply wrote “mine” alongside an image of himself and Tamara Jane a year ago. The duo had confirmed their relationship five months after James’s marriage breakdown was made public. He had been married to Rachael Collin for five years before their separation.

At the time of his marriage ending in September 2023, he released a statement reading: “Rachael and I had a wonderful relationship and marriage. It was very sad but amicable, and we remain friends.”

However, it now appears as though James and Tamara have also went their separate ways. James has seemingly removed all trace of Tamara from his social media account.

Despite his relationship breakdown, James recently pledged his future to Hollyoaks, in which he has played a starring role for two decades. Speaking on The Tom’s Talks podcast last month, James said: “I’m still on Hollyoaks, which is great. I’ve just signed another year. I’m going to be there until January 2026. Yeah. I’m there until January 2026.”

His reveal comes as a number of long-term stars have left or are leaving the Cheshire-based soap. According to reports, Nikki Sanderson, 40, who plays Maxine Minniver, will film her final scenes next month. The popular actress, who has a whole host of big-name TV shows on her CV, including Coronation Street, has been involved in some huge story lines over the years, including sexual assault and a Munchausen syndrome diagnosis.

But a source has claimed her time on the soap is up. “She met with bosses and told them of her plans to leave, she’d just turned 40 and felt the time was right to say goodbye to Maxine,” an insider claimed to The Sun: “She’s keen to explore other opportunities and is excited to get back out there. Bosses have been plotting Maxine’s exit storyline for months and have promised it will be a fitting tribute to the character, and viewers can expect a lot of drama before she goes.”
