There are worries for EastEnders’ Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) next week when he is rushed to hospital over the injuries he sustained in the Queen Vic explosion.
But spoilers have revealed how the hospital dash leads to a huge unravelling that will have major consequences for his dad Teddy (Roland Manookian), mum Nicola (Laura Doddington) and her former lover Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
Next week kicks off with Barney overhearing his dad’s girlfriend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) confessing a big secret to her brother Zack.
When Zack goes on a mission to try and stop Barney from revealing the truth, their conversation takes a turn when the teenager starts bleeding from the wound caused by flying shrapnel when the blast tore through the Vic last week.
Zack joins Nicola and Teddy at the hospital, where the medics are looking at Barney, but a conversation about blood groups sparks his suspicions.
Fans will remember that the last conversation Zack had with Martin Fowler (James Bye) prior to his death in the explosion saw him confess to Martin about his fling with Nicola many years ago. Martin then joked about the possibility Barney could be his son.
With his late best mate’s words running through his mind, Zack tries to speak with one of the nurses.
As he later demands answers from Nicola about Barney’s real paternity, she drops the bombshell to Zack that Barney is his biological son.
Zack is left reeling from the news, but with the secret threatening to upend Barney’s world, will Nicola take action to protect Barney and Teddy from the truth?
