Another Coronation Street legend left reeling by cancer news in early ITVX release
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
Coronation Street legend Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) was left devastated in recent scenes when he learned that his cancer had spread to his lymph nodes.
Kevin was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this month, and recently underwent surgery to have it removed.
Unfortunately, tonight he received his test results which confirmed the cancer had spread, and he would need to have chemotherapy to treat it.
The news comes after fellow Corrie icon Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) revealed to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) that she had been diagnosed with stage four sarcoma.
She explained how she was undergoing alternative treatments to try and prolong her lifespan, but that doctors warned she may not make it to the summer.
This news was met with outrage from fans, who were devastated by the decision to kill off another iconic character.
Despite Todd’s insistence that she tell Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) why she was really back in Weatherfield, Julie was determined to keep her diagnosis a secret.
While Julie has Todd’s support, Kevin is reluctant to rely on wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman) as she is currently dealing with PTSD.
‘She’s overwhelmed anyway, having to basically relive her son’s death numerous times throughout the day, because that’s essentially what she’s doing when she sees him,’ actress Sally Carman previously revealed.

‘So I think it’s just too much. I think it’s so hard for her to navigate the fear of losing Kev on top of everything else.
‘I think that just intent intensifies the PTSD to the point where she has to do something about it, because she just is too much and it’s beyond her ability to control it.’
However – like Julie’s loved ones – Abi is keen to do what she can to help make things a bit easier for Kevin, and has been going to therapy to try and got on top of her symptoms.
With their families keen to support them, will Julie and Kevin accept their help?
