‘Says who?!’ Coronation Street legend slaps down claims they’ve quit
Sally Ann Matthews has shut down any suggestion she is leaving Coronation Street as Jenny Connor.
The actress replied to a worried fan after one of her previous posts led to a tabloid story speculating she could be set to exit the ITV soap.
Sally had initially sparked concern about her Corrie future with a cryptic post on X, which read: ‘Yep. I’m defo in denial.’
One then viewer posted on X: ‘JENNY CONNOR LEAVING CORRIE WTF IS GOING ON WITH THIS SHOW @SallyAnMatthews.’
Clearing things up, she then replied: ‘Says who?????’
Sally then suggested her original post was actually about Charlotte Jordan’s forthcoming exit as Jenny’s stepdaughter and Rovers Return co-owner Daisy Midgeley.
‘Thankfully most of you got it!!’ she posted.

She then replied to one confused fan saying it was about ‘ChaCha’.
When they replied with an animated GIF saying ‘So long partner’, Sally suggested she and Charlotte had been filming some emotional scenes leading up to her co-star’s exit, writing: ‘STOP. It’s been a sad day x.’
Another fan said they were ‘crying’ about Charlotte’s departure, Sally replied: ‘Awwww, you’re going to see her being brilliant in LOTS of other things though.’

Last month, Charlotte announced she would be leaving after a dramatic four years in the soap, explaining that she wants to ‘start a new chapter and explore other opportunities’.
She added in a statement: ‘It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.’
