We’re going to need 7-10 business days to try and process the fact Emmerdale’s Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) marriage is coming to an end.
Ever since she learnt Cain had slept with Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly), Moira has been wondering what to do about their relationship.
On one hand, they’ve been married for years, have children to look after and are clearly soulmates but also, Cain slept with Ruby when Moira was having brain surgery – and she cannot process the enormity of the betrayal.
In tonight’s episode, Moira was due to go to hospital with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), but Cain ended up taking her as her brother was busy.
It allowed the couple time to talk, and attempt to work out what their future looks like.
During their chat, Moira was brutally honest about how Cain’s actions made her feel. It had massively knocked her confidence, which was already at a low point due to the aftermath of the operation, which has seen her have radiotherapy.
Cain, who’s now apologised so many times we’ve lost count, wondered what he could do. And then Moira told him to move out.
It was devastating.
When they returned home, a completely broken Cain asked Moira to let him stay. She shook her head and made her way to the bedroom.
As Moira crawled onto her bed and burst into tears, Cain was left with his head in his hands.
An utterly heartbreaking way to end things for Cain and Moira.
