Coronation Street’s Rebecca Atkinson has said ‘I do’ to her actor boyfriend in front of their celebrity pals.
The actress, 41, wed Shameless star Ben Batt over the weekend in a lavish ceremony. Rebecca, who joined Corrie as Rob Donovan’s iffy prison guard, Mandy, stunned in a white lace gown at Lancaster’s stunning Wennington Hall on Saturday afternoon. Rebecca was snapped by her friend and fellow Shameless star Samantha Sidall ahead of the wedding, which was held in Lancaster.
Samantha, who starred alongside both Rebecca and Ben in the Channel 4 sitcom, posted a carousel of photos from Rebecca and Ben’s nuptials via her own Instagram account.

One photo showed the newlyweds beaming after officially becoming Mr and Mrs while another showed the happy couple smiling next to Shameless co-star, Lindsey Dawson, who was also in attendance at the ceremony.
Friends of the famous pair were quick to congratulate Rebecca and Ben as Corrie star, Sally Carmichael, said: “Oh this has made my day! How utterly gorgeous and fabulous.” While another follower added: “You both look lovely. Congrats to the happy couple.”
Some fans also expressed their happiness at seeing Rebecca and Ben tie the knot in real life – more than 16 years after they played on-screen couple Karen and Joe in Channel 4’s Shameless.
One fan of the Channel 4 smash hit wrote: “Aww this is amazing. Karen and Joe are married in real life.” And another gushed: “Omg Karen and Joe where already Karen and Joe in real life.”
The pair are thought to have started dating after meeting on set of Shameless in 2009, when Ben joined the cast as the character of Joe Pritchard. Rebecca appeared as a regular on the show from when it launched on C4 in 2004.
The actress has been a staple on Coronation Street in recent scenes. Prison guard, Mandy, first made her debut earlier this year as part of Rob Donovan’s return storyline.
After forming a tryst with the killer behind bars, Mandy’s storyline echoed that of real-life prison guard, Linda De Sousa Abreu, who was jailed for 15 months after a clip of her being involved sexually with a prisoner in HMP Wandsworth went viral.
