Popular Coronation Street character makes surprise return – to bad news
Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) returns to Coronation Street next week, but it spells bad news for his girlfriend Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
The former professional footballer currently lives in Spain, where he works as a coach.
Tommy has appeared intermittently since October 2016, though last stepped on the cobbles in July last year.
His biggest story came after his retirement from Weathy County, when he found a new trade as a painter and decorator and was hired by Tracy to breathe new life into her bedroom.
And he did just that – all behind her husband her husband Steve’s (Simon Gregson) back.
With the two were engaging in a steamy fling, it wasn’t long before his best mate Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) learnt the horrifying truth and was forced to tell all.
Soon after, the pair left for pastures new, though on Tracy’s subsequent returns it has become apparent that things aren’t going too smoothly.
Last month, she revealed last week that as his job contract was ending and as a result they had secured a plush Cheshire property to live in.
In upcoming scenes, Tracy is thrilled to see Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) fall from grace in the wake of Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) hospitalisation.
Cassie asks for a few shifts in the pub, but landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) is less than eager to have her on the payroll. Having burnt her bridges, she heads off into the night.
When Tracy overhears, she’s elated – but Tommy turns up and her face drops.
He reveals that he’s accepted another coaching job, but this time it’s in Southampton.
That would mean yet another relocation, and Tracy asserts that she isn’t going to move away again.
Having been dealt a troubling ultimatum, what will Tommy decide?

Later, Tracy is fed up that her dad has gone off for a holiday in the Lake District, and is filled with rage.
He also still misses Cassie, so she decides to put matters into her own hands. She mets up with a dodgy fella in the ginnel, with Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) noticing the interaction from afar.
Tracy calls Cassie around to the house, and serves up a lunch under the idea that they resolve their differences. As they sit down, she hands her a bag of drugs – and urges her to take them.
Will Cassie cave to her demons?
