Coronation Street ‘confirms’ Rob’s next target – as he stages on-screen return
Coronation Street villain Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) returned to the cobbles in sinister scenes this evening as he set his sights on a new target amid his revenge plot.
Rob was catapulted back into sister Carla Connor’s (Alison King) life earlier this year, when she discovered that she needed another kidney transplant.
When Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) asked his dad to be her donor, Rob saw it as an opportunity to escape prison, and soon he’d put a plan in place with the help of prison guard-turned-girlfriend Mandy.
However, things backfired when DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) worked out what Rob was up to and double-crossed him to ensure her girlfriend got the kidney she desperately needed.
Furious at having been duped by the detective, Rob took desperate measures to escape one last time, by taking Carla and Lisa hostage and attempting to extort them for money.
Things escalated quickly, and soon Carla and Lisa had left Rob for dead at the bottom of a staircase – only he wasn’t there when police later arrived at the scene.
Since then, Carla has been on edge, frightened that her killer brother may be out for revenge.
In tonight’s episode, her worst fears appeared to come to light when she returned home from her first day back at work to find her flat had been broken into and trashed, with her money and painkillers missing.

Though a report had suggested that Rob had been sighted across the country in Brighton, Carla and Lisa were pretty certain that Rob was behind the break-in, and ordered Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) not to go out alone until he was caught.
A true teenager, Betsy brushed off her mum’s concerns, choosing to believe the report she’d heard earlier.
However, as she snuck out of the flat to head to a friend’s party, it was clear she was in danger, as Rob appeared from where he’d been lurking in the shadows.
What does he have planned, and is Betsy his next target?
