Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is left in serious danger in Coronation Street next week when he has a run-in with a drug dealer.

When friend Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) returns to the cobbles to celebrate her birthday, she laments over daughter Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) current situation.

With the former addict having been caught out for drugging and stealing from Ken Barlow (William Roache), she has been sleeping rough in the ginnel.

Evelyn is determined to help her daughter get things back on track, though it may prove harder than she’d hoped.

Despite the circumstances, drugs are the only things on Cassie’s mind in upcoming scenes and, desperate for a fix, she calls up a drug dealer and arranges to meet.

However, when she meets him in the precinct, Roy arrives just as he pulls out the drugs.

Having rumbled the situation, Roy threatens to involve the police – How will Cassie and the dealer react?

The next day, Roy enlists Carla Connor’s (Alison King) help to take him to hospital.

Things soon take a dramatic turn, however, when Carla spots prison guard Mandy in the hospital car park.

Viewers will recall that Mandy kidnapped Carla following her kidney transplant, as she teamed up with Rob Donovan to help him escape prison.

Carla orders Roy to keep an eye on her while she calls girlfriend DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) for back-up.

As Mandy heads out of the car park, Carla and Lisa are hot on her tail.

Will they catch her before she gets away?
