Kelvin Fletcher makes epic soap comeback with wife 9 years after Emmerdale exit
Actor Kelvin Fletcher left ITV soap opera Emmerdale in 2016 after playing Andy Sugden for 20 years - but he is now making an epic comeback to soapland
Avid Emmerdale fans will be pleased to learn that Kelvin Fletcher will be returning to his soap roots alongside his wife Liz Marsland.
The actor, 41, who is best known for playing Andy Sugden on the ITV soap is launching a podcast all about Emmerdale and it’s fellow ITV soap Coronation Street and the behind-the-scenes secrets of how they are both filmed. As well as that, Kelvin and his wife Liz will be interviewing the biggest names from soapland on the video format of the podcast.
The podcast, which has been named Off Script: Coronation Street and Emmerdale, will be released each Friday and Kelvin and Liz will be grilling the special guest every week.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Kelvin shared his exciting news with fans as he wrote: “Big soap news. A brand new Vodcast, ‘Off Script’ is coming this Friday. Get ready to dive into all things Corrie and Emmerdale as [Kelvin and Liz] are joined by big star soap fans each week.”
Elsewhere, in a video message, Liz excitedly said: “Hey guys, we’ve got some exciting news. We are the new hosts of the brand new Vodcast – which is a video podcast, in case you didn’t know, of Off Script: Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Where we’re gonna be talking all about soaps and to all of the actors.”
The very first special guest of the podcast has been revealed as none other than Coronation Street’s Claire Sweeney who will be sitting down with the couple for an all exclusive chat on the soap. This isn’t the only project that Kelvin and Liz have going on however. Back in January, Kelvin announced that he and Liz were to let ITV’s cameras behind the scenes on their farm once more.
Following the success of their series Fletchers’ Family Farm in 2023, Kelvin and Liz are now sharing their life on the farm with viewers. Chatting to Lorraine Kelly back in January, Liz said: “Over the next few weeks and months we’re going to be sharing with you and the viewers a bit of an exclusive insight into our life on the farm. It’s going to be an exciting few months with you guys.”

Lorraine described the couple as ‘“living the dream” with their life on the farm, to which Kelvin replied: “I didn’t feel like I was living the dream this morning, when no one would do what they were told, that’s the children, not the animals, the animals are normally the best behaved really.”
At the time, Kelvin also spoke to Lorraine about how life has changed for the family. The actor, who played Andy Sugden on Emmerdale from 1996 until 2016 scored a huge success when he won Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 and he was receiving offers from Hollywood, but everything changed when the Covid pandemic happened and the family opted for a farm in Cheshire rather than a life in Beverly Hills.
“Hollywood to Cheshire, I didn’t quite plan for that, it’s funny how things turn out and with our family now, it’s a life that we never envisaged but it’s a life we can’t imagine not being like that,” Kelvin joked.
