Spoilers for Emmerdale have confirmed Joe Tate’s secret will be revealed onscreen next week.

Now, actor Ned Porteous has had his say, teasing his character’s real plan for Kim Tate as well as addressing what he’s been hiding. Fans had been predicting a shock death or illness plot for Joe following some concerning scenes.

For weeks we’ve seen him collapsing or in pain, while he’s also had secret calls and meet-ups with Dr Crowley, and he’s got loads of pills hidden in a bag. Things turned sinister when he appeared to drug his brother Noah Dingle, with it looking like they were testing him for something.

Viewers are convinced that his big secret is that he needs an organ transplant, and he could be targeting people in the village. New spoilers have teased what it is that he’s hiding, with it confirmed he definitely is sick.

Spoilers reveal that he has an illness or a health issue that is going to be revealed onscreen next week, however it will not be given away ahead of the episode. Also set to be revealed and linked to the plot is what’s in the mystery black case given to him by Dr Crowley.

The contents of the case will likely be what gives away what is wrong with Joe. Viewers will also see Joe’s mystery plan with Dr Crowley come to light next week in full, as we finally find out what the pair have been plotting for weeks.

Now, actor Ned has had his say about the big secret and what Joe’s real intentions are for Kim Tate. Fans have questioned for months if he is secretly plotting to bring down Kim and to steal Home Farm from her.

But it seems his real intentions are not that, and he actually does just want to be around family. Ned appeared to confirm to Inside Soap magazine that Joe is not targeting Kim at all.

He said: “I’m sure he wouldn’t turn it down but would he get bored? I think the winning interests Joe more than having won. Joe’s Achilles heel is being loved and having a family.”

On what’s ahead he added: “I think he probably enjoys having these enemies in the village so he can have a bit of a verbal/mental tussle every now and then. The last thing he wants is the physical ones, he’d pay someone else to do that as he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty.”

It comes as fans believed they’d worked out what was wrong with Joe. Taking to social media one fan said: “I think it’s some kind of dialysis kit in that box. He’s probably got kidney failure and is after one of Noah’s.”

Another fan said: “It’s either a dialysis machine in the black box and ‘all’ he wants is a kidney, or Dubai is a cover and he needs an organ that would kill Noah, like a heart/liver. If it’s the latter though, what’s in the box? So my guess was dialysis/kidney.”
