Emmerdale’s Vanessa’s takes revenge on broken Mary as Suzy secret is exposed
Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) was utterly humiliated in last night’s episode of Emmerdale, as Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) discovered she was the other person Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) had feelings for.
On the day of Amy and Leyla’s funerals, a flashback scene aired that saw Suzy and Mary together discussing their friendship. Suzy admitted that it feels as though she’s in a relationship with the wrong person, and wants to be with Mary.
The beloved character was taken aback but she couldn’t hide her love for Suzy. The two characters kissed, which was witnessed by Leyla seconds later.
In the aftermath, Mary has continued to support Vanessa but hasn’t told her about what happened with Suzy.
The situation for Vanessa changed a few days ago, when a bracelet was found by the sofa. It was dropped by Mary the last day she saw Suzy, but she had to quickly cover the truth with a lie.
Matters were made worse for both parties when Vanessa found texts on Suzy’s phone between her and Leyla. They were discussing Suzy’s relationship with Vanessa, and how she wasn’t sure if she wanted it to continue.
This left Vanessa utterly convinced Suzy had been seeing someone else. Mary did her best to steer Vanessa away from the reality last night, but her secret was inadvertently revealed by Rhona (Zoe Henry).

Rhona had popped over to see Vanessa and then spotted her mum’s bracelet on the side. She thought that Mary had just accidentally dropped it, but Vanessa then made the leap and concluded her best friend’s mum was Suzy’s other woman.
Rushing over to the pub, Vanessa and Rhona confronted Mary, and her facial expression alone was more than enough confirmation.
Poor Vanessa was overwhelmed with emotion. She felt betrayed by Mary, and hurt her by saying that she’s old enough to be Suzy’s mum.
In front of many residents in the pub, Mary was humiliated when Vanessa threw a drink right in her face.
Tracy (Amy Walsh) escorted her sister away, while Rhona took her mum home.
There, Mary broke down and admitted she loved Suzy, and now thinks her death and the aftermath that has followed was her punishment for falling in love with someone already in a relationship.
Consumed with grief and intense loss, Mary cried, leaving Rhona unsure of what to do or say next.
