Coronation Street confirms David’s saviour as Harvey story finally comes to an end
David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) seems to be finally getting things back on track in Coronation Street, with a loved one coming to his aid in recent scenes.
The hairdresser put himself and his family in serious danger last year when he stole a large sum of money from notorious gangster Harvey Gaskell.
As soon as he found out that David was responsible, Harvey began to make his life hell in a variety of ways, from kidnapping wife Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) to having David the dog run over.
With Harvey making it clear he was prepared to go to extreme lengths to get his money back, David took even more drastic action by arranging his own death, so his family could use his life insurance to pay off his debts.
However, his plan didn’t go the way he expected, as David survived the hit and run that was supposed to kill him.
When Shona found out what David had done, she was devastated and, not to mention, absolutely furious.
Taking matters into her own hands, she borrowed the money from Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) via some light blackmail, seemingly getting Harvey off their backs for good.
Now, the family are left having to pick up the pieces of Harvey’s reign of terror, which also resulted in them losing their house.
Wanting to help his dad pay Harvey off, Max Turner previously set fire to No.8 in the hope they could claim on the insurance.
However, he was soon caught out, and eventually confessed all to the police, leaving the family penniless and without the proverbial pot.
Though Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) graciously took her brother’s family in, it was becoming clear that they had outstayed their welcome.

Sensing that Sarah was keen to get them out of her hair, David turned to grandmother Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) for help.
He asked if they could temporarily move into her home, but Audrey later came back with a better suggestion.
She revealed that she planned to sell her house and give David the money, so he could use it to renovate No.8.
Eventually, David agreed to the plan, but was stunned when Audrey revealed that she planned on moving into the annex.
Will David regret accepting her offer with this new condition?
