Emmerdale’s Mary fights back as she makes powerful statement

Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) stood her ground in last night’s episode of Emmerdale, as she dealt with the aftermath of people learning about her kiss with Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).
Yesterday, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) worked out that Mary was the other woman Suzy had feelings for once Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) identified her mum’s bracelet in Vanessa’s house.
She raced to the pub to confront Mary, who then confirmed her suspicions.
Vanessa’s anger grew and she delivered some harsh comments towards Mary. She said that she’s old enough to be Suzy’s mum, so the two of them being together could never have happened.
Mary tried to apologise, but she was left utterly humiliated when Vanessa threw a drink at her…in front of the whole pub.
When Rhona took Mary home, she was taken aback when her mum cried and admitted that she really loved Suzy and believed they were on the cusp of starting a beautiful relationship.
In last night’s episode, Rhona continued to try and look after her mum, but she had to make some changes. In the café, she made a comment to Mary that suggested Vanessa’s feelings were more important than her own.
Poor Mary was hurt and heartbroken. Despite being ‘the other woman’, Mary told her daughter that her grief and emotions are just as important as Vanessa’s.

Suzy meant so much to her and now she’s gone, Mary knew that she’s still entitled to feel those feelings and express them to others, no matter how much it impacts Vanessa.
Rhona was, once again, surprised with what her mum had to say but the important thing?
She listened – something Vanessa will hopefully be able to do with Mary in the not too distant future, if she finds the ability to move past the anger she feels over the betrayal.
