This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.

Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) was left stunned in recent Coronation Street scenes when he found out the truth about Julie Carp’s (Katy Cavanagh) diagnosis.

After returning to the cobbles last month, Julie revealed to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) that she had been diagnosed with stage four sarcoma, and only had months left to live.

Though initially she had wanted to keep her diagnosis a secret, she eventually opened up to sister Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), and it is safe to say that the news has hit her hard.

In tonight’s episode, Eileen was still struggling to come to terms with the news, which left her somewhat short-tempered when it came to dealing with frustrated customers like Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney).

The pair ended up rowing when Debbie came into the cab office complaining about her taxi not showing up, and she was left dissatisfied with Eileen’s level of customer service.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of the incident, as they later got into round two in the Rovers.

As Debbie complained about Eileen’s ‘grim’ demeanour, Eileen insisted that she had other things going on in her life.

Debbie counteracted by pointing out that things weren’t all rosy for her either, reminding Eileen that on top of everything else, her brother Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) was recently diagnosed with cancer.

In a moment of fury, Eileen revealed that she was in the same boat, outing Julie’s cancer in front of a shocked Brian and a horrified Julie.

Following Eileen’s outburst, Julie and Brian were forced to have a difficult conversation, as hurt Brian wondered why she hadn’t told him sooner.

As Julie explained that she didn’t want things to change between them, she tried to steer the conversation away from the topic, only for Brian to insist that she was the strongest woman he knew.

Later, having returned home to Eileen, Julie reflected on Brian’s statement and admitted to her sister that it wasn’t true.

She confided in Eileen that she was completely terrified, and didn’t want to die.

Will Eileen and Brian be able to support Julie in the coming months?
