It’s certainly possible (Picture: ITV)

Emmerdale fans were left curious watching last night’s episode, as a brief comment from Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) appeared to hint at a new storyline for her.

Yesterday, Mandy and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) got married. Because this is a soap though, the journey to them becoming husband and wife absolutely wasn’t smooth sailing.

This week, Paddy’s dad Bear (Joshua Richards) discovered Mandy’s findom side hustle. He decided to pretend to be a client of hers and managed to expose Mandy’s secret in front of Chas (Lucy Pargeter), Paddy and Marlon (Mark Charnock).

Afterwards, Paddy really wasn’t sure if he wanted to marry his best friend.

In the salon, Mandy was getting ready with son Vinny (Bradley Johnson). When she came downstairs, Vinny was overcome with emotion as he saw his beloved mum in her pink and sparkling wedding dress.

As the mother and son shared the loved, Vinny asked Mandy if she had heard from her mum ahead of the wedding.

Mandy’s mum is called Vera-Lynn. We’ve never seen her on screen, and her name is very rarely mentioned.

In a book called Mandy’s Secret Diary, published in the early 2000s, it was revealed Vera-Lynn died when Mandy was young.

Mandy responded with ‘you know I haven’t’, when Vinny asked if she had heard from her. During that moment, it wasn’t made clear whether Vera-Lynn is still alive, or Mandy just hasn’t told Vinny about her death.

Because this character isn’t mentioned regularly, it’s very possible the ITV soap has removed the information included in Mandy’s Secret Diary from Emmerdale’s history.

If this is the case, it certainly opens up the opportunity for Vera-Lynn to arrive in the Dales to see her daughter.

Yesterday, after Mandy and Paddy talked about her findom business, they decided to get married after all.

The ceremony was chaotic and rushed due to Charles (Kevin Mathurin) being on a time limit but ultimately, it was a huge success.

Mandy and Paddy are married – but just how long will the happiness last?
