(Emmerdale: Cain is worried about Moira’s drinking when he finds a bottle of whiskey)
Concern is continuing to grow for Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) in Emmerdale.
After Matty’s (Ash Palmisciano) arrest, Moira’s behaviour spiralled. She became desperate to free her innocent son from prison and snapped at anyone who suggested Matty was remotely guilty.
During this period, Moira’s irritation and anger was all completely understandable. When Matty returned though, instead of things getting better, they seemed to get worse.
After Samson’s (Sam Hall) arrest, Matty expressed sympathy towards his relative because he knows exactly what it’s like to be terrified in prison. For Moira, she couldn’t understand why Matty was feeling sorry for him and said he’s at risk of becoming a ‘doormat’ if his behaviour didn’t change.

In a recent episode, after Moira and Cain (Jeff Hordley) had another argument, Matty found his mum on the sofa after apparently taking a nap.
Moira sat up and was puzzled. Her reaction to Matty’s update suggested she had no memory of falling asleep but instead of telling her son this, she covered and said she’s not been eating much and needed some rest after a few early starts.
In upcoming episodes, Cain confronts Moira about the whisky he found in her bag. Feeling worried, he later finds Moira knocking back some painkillers again.
In the week, Moira confides in John (Oliver Farnworth) and says that she’s worried about her marriage.
Meanwhile, anxious about the relationship himself, Cain takes to confronting Nate (Jurell Carter) and asks if there’s something going on because, as we see in this video, he was suspicious when he saw them drinking together.
While Moira is taken aback when Cain mentions her past connection with his son, Nate is later hurt as he pleads with his dad that their relationship is in a good place.
It’s very clear something is troubling Moira, but what is it?
Has she developed a reliance on alcohol, or is there something else going on?
And could this trouble lead to her and Cain splitting up?
