Major Hollyoaks exit confirmed as character dies in exploitation story
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (May 28) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
DI Banks (Drew Cain) has met quite an end as he was shot by Frankie Osborne (Isabelle Smith), Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) and Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence).
The dodgy detective, as viewers know, has been running a child exploitation operation in the village, with Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) and Grace Black (Tamara Wall) grooming a number of teens into a life of crime.
Dillon, Frankie and Vicky were kept prisoner at Fernmere Hill but, with Darren Osborne’s (Ashley Taylor Dawson) rescue mission having gone awry, the trio soon found themselves in the clutches of Banks once more.
Determined to flee the village with his wife before he was apprehended, Banks came to realise that was in desperate need of cash and therefore he decided to auction off Frankie, Dillon and Vicky online.
Rex and Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) accessed the auction remotely and tried to bid on the teens in order to rescue them – to no avail.
Dillon, meanwhile, made a run for it, with the subsequent showdown resulting in the camera being knocked to the side. Watching the livestream from their computer, Dodger and Rex recognised a poster from The Loft and thus wasted little time in heading to the nightclub.
Dead end
Banks was made aware of the interference when the power at The Loft was cut and thus he and his cronies headed outside to investigate, allowing Dodger ample time to enter the club and notify the teens of his plan to rescue them.
But when Banks got the upper hand, Dillon, Frankie and Vicky decided to take matters into their own hands and, in a bid to protect themselves, they grabbed guns from a bag belonging to Banks’ cronies.
Banks returned to The Loft and, with the teens hiding in plain sight, he made it his mission to locate them.
The gangster confronted Vicky with his gun and thus Frankie and Dillon came out of the shadows, withdrawing their firearms. Vicky followed suit and, frightened for their life, the trio shot DI Banks.
The traumatised teens stood over Banks’ motionless body, struggling to come to terms with the events that have just unfolded.
The question is: just what will happen next? Is their exploitation nightmare at an end? Or is there more torment to come?
A Devine comeback
There will no doubt be hell to pay when Banks’ wife, who – in a delicious cliffhanger – was revealed to be none other than legendary Hollyoaks schemer Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix), gets wind of what’s happened to her hubby.
Grace was taken aback to see her thought-to-be-dead sister, who last appeared on our screens 12 years ago when she was knocked down by Doctor Browning.
But Clare is very much alive. Cue the drama.
