Carla and Lisa’s romance ‘confirmed’ in Coronation Street as someone clocks them together
For months now, Coronation Street fans have been speculating that there might be more to Carla Connor (Alison King) and DS Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) friendship – and seems they are not the only ones to notice a spark between them.
Next week, their relationship comes under the scrutiny of Lisa’s daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), as the pair have continued to grow closer recently.
Viewers have seen Carla support Lisa as she opened up about the death of her wife and her struggles with Betsy, before offering the troubled teen work experience at the factory.
Then last week, Carla stepped in to mediate between mother and daughter, after they hit more communication problems.
In forthcoming scenes, Carla and Lisa are once again in each other’s orbit, as she continues to support her friend in trying to bring down the evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
Besty spies them in deep conversation outside the station and approaching them, she insinuates there’s more to their relationship than meets the eye.
How will Carla and Lisa react?
In a recent interview with Metro.co.uk, actress Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa, admitted she enjoyed the speculation about the couple, who fans have nicknamed ‘Swarla’. However she was not drawn on whether things could progress between them.
‘Well, I think for now, with everything that’s happening in the street, Lisa’s incredibly busy,’ she reasoned. ‘I do feel that it would be really quite lovely for her to have a friend and be able to develop a friendship with somebody.
‘She sees a lot of herself in Carla and respects her. She is feisty and strong – a powerhouse. She also has a big heart.’
Vicky added: ‘I think it would be really nice to see their friendship develop, or just a friendship in general for Lisa. I think she needs that. Somebody to talk to instead of trying to do it all by herself.’
