Rowan’s downfall confirmed as evil cult leader’s Coronation Street exit unfolds
Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) starts to lose his grip on Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) in Coronation Street next week, as his downfall finally begins.
The conniving con man has had Leanne under his spell as part of self-help cult The Institute, which in reality, is a guise for scamming vulnerable people out of cash.
Leanne’s husband Nick Tilsey (Ben Price) and her sister Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) have been wise to his tricks for a while now, after he blackmailed them into silence, having evidence of an affair between them.
However, all bets are off next week when Nick outlines his plan to Toyah to report Rowan to the police for blackmail.
Calling at the police station, Nick hands DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) a notebook with all of the details.
Meanwhile, Leanne confides in Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) that she has emailed herself a load of files on Rowan’s computer, as she tries to help Amy get back the £40,000 she ‘invested’ into the Institute.
Does she have enough evidence to make Rowan hand over the cash?
Later in the week, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) urges Leanne and Toyah to forget Nick ever existed and remember that they’re sisters, but they are interrupted when he drops by the flat with an update on Rowan.
Will he finally have been brought to justice?
