It’s fair to say Coronation Street fans have had their suspicions about Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) closeness to Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) in recent weeks – and it’s starting to look like they may have cause for concern.

Ken agreed to let Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) birth mother be his carer and help him around the house earlier this year, amid struggles with his mobility.

The pair have enjoyed each other’s company, but Cassie’s presence at No 1 has riled Ken’s daughter Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) since she returned from Spain last month, believing she is trying to get close to her ex Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).

However, many fans have speculated that Cassie could be more interested in Ken’s money, following a scene last month in which she overheard Ken finding out he’d won £50,000 after his numbers came up in a premium bond draw.

Next week, Ken is trying his best to help granddaughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), after Rowan Cuncliffe’s (Emrhys Cooper) cult The Institute conned her out of her late grandmother Deirdre’s (Anne Kirkbride) inheritance.

When Amy tells Ken she’s going to have to work more hours if she’s ever to replace the money, Ken feels guilty knowing he’s sat on a pot of cash from his premium bonds.

When Cassie arrives, Ken tells her about his win – unaware she actually already knows – and how he is thinking of giving the money to Amy.

Cassie is set on changing his mind, however, as she issues a warning.

Has she got her own designs on Ken’s cash?
