Mercedes devastated by Tony’s brutal move amid unexpected Hollyoaks story

Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) is set to throw Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) off the scent in Hollyoaks next week when it comes to son Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe), taking shocking action.
The pair – who were briefly romantically entangled years ago when Tony cheated on Jacqui (Claire Cooper) with Merce – shared a bottle of plonk and a passionate kiss earlier this week, taking their encounter upstairs.
The twist in question proved a true Hollyoaks classic and it came just days after Tony found himself the subject of a very public showdown between Marie Fielding (Rita Simons) – who he was engaged to previously – and ex-wife Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher).
It was looking like sparks were on the cusp of flying for Tony and Diane once again, with both characters having grown closer while supporting Ro (Ava Webster).
The unexpected passion with Mercedes, however, threw a spanner in the working, coming just hours after Tony confronted the former pub landlady over harbouring killer Bobby.
Bobby, as viewers will recall, claimed the life of Verity (Eva O’Hara) – Tony’s beloved sister – in addition to murdering killer Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle).
But as the animosity settled between Tony and Mercedes, the chemistry sizzled – with one thing leading to another.
Tony was keen to keep their one night stand a secret and Mercedes was happy to comply with his request, not wanting word of their brief dalliance to get out.
Despite their best efforts to stay away, however, the two mainstays find themselves in each other’s orbit once again in upcoming scenes.
Tony offer comfort to Mercedes, who gives him the cold shoulder over her stress about Bobby, who is secretly being watched by her nemesis Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix).
In a heated scene, Mercedes tells Tony that their fling was meaningless. However, she soon finds herself hooking up with the restaurateur once again, admitting to John Paul (James Sutton) – who teases her over the dalliance – that Tony is an escape for her.
Later, while in bed with Mercedes, Tony opens up over his grief for Verity, admitting that he still misses her.

When Mercedes leaves the room, a text message comes through on her phone from an anonymous source, who claims to have Bobby’s location.
With emotions running high, Tony deletes the text.
The question is: just how will our Merce react when she uncovers the truth? Will this spell the end for any potential future that she and Tone might have had?
What’s more, just where does this leave Bobby? And does Tony’s heart still lie with Diane?
