Coronation Street regular’s ‘sickening and inappropriate’ messages to teen revealed

Coronation Street's DS Lisa Swain is left devastated this week as she's ordered to step away from the Joel Deering case after learning about his "inappropriate and sickening" messages to a young girl

Coronation Street villain Joel Deering’s “sickening” and “inappropriate” texts to a young teenage girl are revealed this week.

DS Lisa Swain (Victoria Myers) is dealt a hefty blow in upcoming scenes when she gets booted off the Joel (Calum Lill) investigation. Swain and Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) have been on a mission to nail Joel following his vicious assault on Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), but without sufficient evidence, they’ve hit a dead end as the case has been closed.

Swain and Dee-Dee have have been trying to get in touch with Ellie, another young girl who’s fallen prey to Joel’s manipulation hoping she’ll cough up details that could finally put him behind bars.

Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) had previously tried to convince Ellie to speak out about Lauren’s vanishing act. While Ellie initially pinned the blame on Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper), it turns out Joel was actually strong-arming her to point fingers.

In jaw-dropping scenes set to hit the screens on ITV next week, Swain drops a bombshell on Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) when she uncovers some dodgy texts between Joel and Ellie. She says: “There are inappropriate texts between Joel and a girl he was representing. An Eleanor Benton. Does that name ring any bells? “.

Craig responds: “No. So he was sending her dirty messages? ” Swain confirms: “Yeah, it’s horrible, it’s sickening but he called her Ellie.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Craig then says: “Actually, maybe this does ring a bell. A while back Bethany mentioned an Ellie. She reckoned that Nathan Curtis had assaulted her.”

Swain prods: “Did you follow it up? ” to which Craig admits: “I went around to her address but she’d legged it by the time I got there. I think maybe she was scared.”

The detective wonders if they’re onto something big: “Well if this is the same Ellie then we could be onto something here. What if Joel forced her to lie to put Nathan in the frame? ” and Craig recalls: “Like with Lauren.”

Swain ploughs on: “Exactly. This Ellie was one of Joel’s clients which means she was arrested so at the very least but I can’t check the system. I’ve been told to step away from the case so I’m not allowed to do any digging but..”

Craig cuts in, catching on quick: “But I am and that’s what you’re telling me this. You want me to check it out and report back to you”, prompting Swain to compliment him: “You’re sharp as a tack, PC Tinker. I know it’s a huge favour.”

“I’d be out on my ear if anyone find out.” acknowledges Craig. Swain replies lightly: “No pressure.” before Craig adds: “I want this monster locking up as much as you do.” Will Craig really risk his job for justice?
