Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ Cassie’s true intentions with Ken – and it’s chilling

When the Barlow family agreed to the idea of Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) becoming Ken’s (William Roache) carer in Coronation Street, none of them expected the duo to actually get on quite well.

Cassie jumped at the chance to help Ken out primarily to earn a bit more extra cash. Following a fall earlier this year, Ken was told by a doctor that he’d need help until he got back on his feet.

Due to the high prices of private carers, the Barlows were only too happy to let Cassie help out.

At first, Ken struggled with the prospect of having Cassie in his home. Daughter to Evelyn (Maureen Lipman), Cassie is a recovering drug addict and has previously been seen scamming and developing devious plans.

This – at first – was not Cassie’s focus as she bonded with Ken and enjoyed learning about his history in Weatherfield.

Now though, things appear to be different.

In a recent episode of the ITV soap, Ken was informed he had won £50k on premium bonds.

This phone call was overheard by Cassie, who had expressed her desire to quit as Ken’s carer earlier that day.

Her eyes lighting up, Cassie popped her apron on and set about tidying the house.

When Steve got back, Cassie made out that she didn’t want to let Ken down and has decided she won’t be going anywhere.

Over on social media platform X, Coronation Street fans have regularly expressed their thoughts on Cassie still hanging around at Number 1, convinced she’s only there to gain access to Ken’s very large bank account.

‘Knew Cassie was after Ken’s money’, one user said.

Hoping to predict a future storyline, this fan wrote: ‘Cassie better not steal Ken’s money?! If she does, I hope Tracey gets to her! This street hasn’t had a good cat fight in a while!’.

Cassie was faced with another challenge recently when Steve’s (Simon Gregson) ex Tracy (Kate Ford) made her way back to Weatherfield.

As well as being involved in Amy’s (Elle Mulvaney) plot with cult The Institute, Tracy also grew suspicious of Cassie’s intentions towards her ex.

At the start of this week, Tracy left the cobbles once more – but told Steve before she left that it’s obvious Cassie fancies him and he should go for it.

But given the developments with Ken Barlow, are Cassie’s feelings for Steve genuine?

Or is it all part of her plan?
