Channel 4 slashed the episode count of the show by 40 per cent to just three per week.
Hollyoaks has since been relaunched as 20 cast members are no longer part of the character line-up.
This is on top of a huge shake-up behind the scenes as members of the production staff were also let go.
Annie Wallace was amongst the number of actors to depart the show after she played the role of Sally St. Claire for nine years.
When time moved forward, it was revealed the character escaped the UK for sunnier skies in Alicante.
After the huge relaunch, the actress took to X – formerly known as Twitter – as she pondered about the fate of her own alter ego.
The former soap star wrote: “I’m as interested as you are as to what Sally’s doing in Alicante.”
She added: “I wonder if we’ll find out why? I really don’t know,” along with a crying with laughter emoji.
Earlier this year we revealed that Annie Wallace was amongst the number of actors to leave the long-running soap.
The actress bowed out of the soap after the huge stunt that claimed the lives of three residents.
A source said: “Annie’s loved her time on Hollyoaks but the time for Sally being a full-time character is at an end.
“She will bow out in heroic scenes during the dramatic stunt, with the scenes being kept top secret.
“It’s not a defined end and the door has been left firmly open for her for a potential return down the line but when the show jumps forward a year, Sally isn’t in the village any longer.”
