Ryan Stocks’ (James Moore) partner Gail (Rachael Gill Davis) was completely heartbroken in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale as she revealed a loved one had died.

Ryan and Gail go way, way back, having had a baby together when they were youngsters, whom they gave up for adoption. They broke up after this but found their way back together when Gail showed up in the village.

Their relationship was tested to the max last year when their adopted son showed up on their doorstep wanting to get to know them.

Further turmoil ensued when they learned he had cancer and needed them to be his bone marrow donor. Just as they started to get to know him, his adoptive mother banned them from seeing him.

They went through the wringer when Sophie, Oscar’s adoptive mum, lied and told them that Oscar wanted nothing to do with them. When they discovered the truth, their relationship was put under strain as Gail chose to forgive Sophie while Ryan very much still carried a burning hatred.

In Thursday night’s episode of the ITV soap, Gail rushed into the café in tears. She had some bad news for Ryan – her pet rat Daniel, who had a long tail and pink eyes, was dead.

Gail somewhat blamed herself for Daniel’s demise, as she said she had spent a great deal of time at Ryan’s recently and not cared for her pet as much.

This prompted Ryan to suggest Gail move in with him permanently but at first, she wasn’t keen.

The massive milestone left Gail fearing her relationship with Ryan would be negatively impacted as a result of the change.

Eventually though, after talking things through, Gail changed her mind and decided to move in with Ryan after all.

It’s a big step – what could possibly go wrong?
