Hollyoaks to air emotional funeral scenes in devastating anniversary aftermath

Hollyoaks‘ residents are still reeling from the tragic events of anniversary week, with the soap gearing up to air some heartbreaking funeral scenes soon.
The Channel 4 series has celebrated its 30th anniversary with a big stunt-based storyline. The village was rocked by a plane crash that claimed the life of Peri Lomax, while killer Jez Blake and villain Grace Black also died in the aftermath.
In scenes airing next week, the village is mourning one of their own as they come together for a funeral, realising that community has never been more important for those who survived the accident.
Devastated over Peri’s death, her mum Leela Dexter offers kindness to another resident in the wake of the plane crash.
As for Donny Clark, who was revealed to be Brookside‘s Mick Johnson in a crossover, the detective turns up late at Casa McQueen to join the wake.
Our soap insider teases some “incredibly emotional” scenes next week as the village throws their support behind Leela.
“The village has been changed forever by the events of the anniversary week,” said our insider.
“Leela is in complete turmoil mourning her daughter, but as the community comes together to say goodbye, she still finds the strength to reach out to another struggling resident. There are some incredibly emotional scenes ahead.”
Elsewhere next week, Cleo McQueen is struggling after giving birth to her baby before she was due. As she has a hard time bonding with her newborn, Sienna Blake does her best to try and reassure her.
Meanwhile, newcomer Gemma Johnson, who’s Donny/Mick’s biological daughter, has caused further turmoil in the village.
Donny’s partner Misbah Maalik is shocked to learn he has another child, while Mercedes McQueen is left stunned when she finds out Gemma is seeing her ex, Warren Fox. Knowing Mercedes, she won’t leave them alone as her storyline hints at some serious plotting against Warren.
