A major death is declared in upcoming Coronation Street scenes as the search for a body gets underway.

Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) is left feeling disconcerted in upcoming scenes when she receives a voice message from Joel Deering (Calum Lill).

Viewers will know that Joel and Dee-Dee’s engagement came to an abrupt end earlier this year when Dee-Dee learnt what Joel had really been up to behind her back.

After suspecting that Joel had been having an affair, Dee-Dee confronted Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) who confided in her about how she had been groomed and attacked by the sinister solicitor.

Since then, Dee-Dee has teamed up with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in the hopes of bringing Joel down, and they seem to be getting closer to nailing him every day.

In upcoming scenes, Dee-Dee takes the voice message to Lisa, who breaks the news that she suspects it may be a suicide note.

Using Joel’s phone signal, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) tracks his location and manages to pinpoint his last known whereabouts.

When he heads to the spot, he finds Joel’s car parked on a bridge, with a note on the dashboard.

Lisa is then forced to break the news that they are now looking for Joel’s body.

However, Dee-Dee later phones the wedding venue she and Joel had planned to use, and confides in Kit that Joel has already recouped their deposits.

When she later runs into Joel’s dad at the police station, Dee-Dee is adamant that Joel has gone on the run, and Lisa is forced to step in and tell Dee-Dee to accept that Joel is dead.

Is Dee-Dee right to be suspicious, or is Joel really dead?
