Emmerdale star wants her dead character to return as a ghost for lesbian romance

Emmerdale star Katherine Dow Blyton has pitched a hilarious story idea, and honestly, we support it.

Katherine played policewoman-turned-vicar-turned-policewoman-again Harriet Finch from 2013 until 2022, when the character fell victim to the frightful 50th anniversary storm.

Poor Harriet was left dead after a quad-biking accident, amid her war with Kim Tate (Claire King) over lover Will Taylor (Dean Andrews).

Over the weekend, Katherine reunited with her co-stars at the Cure Usher Ball, where she stopped to chat with Metro.co.uk alongside Emma Atkins, Zoe Henry and Charlotte Bellamy.

‘We can’t get rid of Katherine, we see her all the time!’ Zoe, who plays Rhona Goskirk, joked about the reunion.

‘I just see them once a year, and that’s quite enough!’ Katherine teased.

When the topic of conversation changed to Laurel Thomas’ new love interest Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin), both Katherine and Emma appeared shocked as actress Charlotte announced that Laurel, ‘jumps on the vicar’.

Zoe was quick to point out that this wasn’t the first time, as Katherine hilariously quipped: ‘She loves somebody in a dog collar… Although, she never jumped on Harriet!’

‘That’s a whole new twist,’ Charlotte laughed, before Katherine added: ‘And I was always open for it!’

We were quick to joke that it could still happen in the future, and Katherine agreed that Harriet could come back as a ghost for the lesbian love affair.

However, it is not Harriet but Charles that Lauren ‘jumps on’ in upcoming scenes – a complicated situation given his relationship with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker).

What does the future hold for Laurel, Charles and Manpreet? And will we ever see Harriet return as a ghost?
