Hollyoaks exposes two dark secrets ahead of Tony’s shocking confession

Shocking truths are unearthed in the family.

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has exposed two dark secrets and a shocking confession from Tony Hutchinson in the first of four special festive episodes set on Christmas Day. Following an eventful few months for Tony, the Hutchinsons attempt at a calm Christmas went horribly wrong after all their secrets were revealed.

Earlier this year, Tony was shot on his wedding day to Diane and the soap later revealed that it was Mercedes McQueen who pulled the trigger.

Diane and Gemma secretly know the truth and have been working together to ruin Mercedes’ life by blackmailing her and getting her addicted to anxiety pills.

Meanwhile, Hutchinson family daughter Dee Dee was recently revealed as Frankie’s tormenter because she had a thing for JJ, Frankie’s dead abusive brother.

In tonight’s episode, Diane attempted to put on the perfect Christmas Day at the Hutchinsons and Dee Dee was horrified after Eva opened a gift she had ordered for JJ before his death.

After Ro was forced to show the family a personalised gift for JJ, Dee Dee admitted that she had been speaking to JJ in prison after developing a crush on him while he was still in the village.

Facing questions, Dee Dee said she was the one who had been tormenting Frankie, saying: “She deserved it. Everything she said about him was a lie. He was her victim, not the other way around.”

Dee Dee said she didn’t believe that JJ was capable of abusing Frankie and that she wanted to seek justice to prove he was innocent.

Later, a troubled Ant told the family that he had found a burner phone and Dee Dee revealed that it was Diane who had been blackmailing Mercedes.

Without the family present, Tony told Diane that he knew it was Mercedes who had shot him all along, leaving a heartbroken Diane to question how Tony could keep it secret and put his family through hell.

Tony admitted that he didn’t want to destroy Mercedes’ life after all she had been through, saying: “What good would it have done? Ruining another life?”

Hurt that Tony put someone before their family again, a tearful Diane lashed out, listing all of the things Tony had put her through. “I’ve been run ragged looking after you,” she said.

Outside, Diane confronted Mercedes for shooting Tony, saying: “I am made up you’ve hit rock bottom because now you know what it looks like.”

Back in the flat, Tony tried to reach out to Diane, who ignored his pleas and called the police to report Mercedes.

Will Tony make a confession to the police?
